How to overcome exam stress

I have seen almost every one is stressed before the final examination. This is a part of the student life and you should know how to overcome this. Irrespective of your class or the amount of preparation you have made the stress is an inevitable factor. From my experience of my association with students I can say there are some students who can fight stress very well and I have seen the other extreme also where students fail to handle stress and become victim of various related problems.
I can give you a few suggestions which can minimise your final exam stress. The following are my tips to overcome the final exam stress.

  1. Be positive, if you have prepared well - you will do well

Be positive, if you have prepared well - you will do well. Think and convince you have done your best and you will be able to answer the paper to the best of your ability. The fact you must realise that it is not possible for any one to remember each and every thing you have studied so far. The trick is to keep your mind clear and to remain calm.

  2. Avoid friends who are already stressed

It is not uncommon to find some of your friends, who are already stressed, talking to you on various chapters of the syllabus but are not ready to hear your answer - their stress will only add to your stress. Question is how do you avoid your friend's such calls? My suggestion is you should not talk to such friends, instead try to focus on something else.

  3. Learn to say 'no'

You may meet people in life who will ask you to go out or party with them when tests are very close and you are seriously preparing for the tests. If you do not feel like going with them, just say 'no'. I know many cases where very close relations add stress to the students by giving unnecessary and impossible suggestions. Try to avoid them as well.

  4. Small breaks relieve you

Do not attempt to study for more than an hour or so. Take short breaks and then start again. During the break, eat some thing light or chat with your family members or listen to your favourite music or take a short walk. The break should not be more than 10-15 minutes.

  5. Eat healthy

Do not skip breakfast. Avoid oily and fried food. You should eat fruits, cereals, proteins, and every thing that you like and are easy to digest. Never study long hours without food.
